Grey Teals at Virginia Lake
Grey teals often spend the day resting in the shaded stillness of lakeside trees, emerging at dusk to feed. In this work, a pair of teals perch on a fallen trunk above the water, sheltered beneath a canopy of bare twigs that filter the light. Semi-cubist elements in the background evoke the deep blue tones and layered shadows of lake and woodland. Virginia Lake, Whanganui.
